'Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone.
(from 'The Last Rose of Summer')

A moving and humorous exploration of the later life of the Bard of Ireland, Thomas Moore. Concerned for his patriotic credentials and embarrassed by the privileges of aristocratic London, Moore attempts to restate his commitment to his mother country. He approaches his final days with an outrageous plan to stage a rebellion at a high society dinner. Includes a selection from Moore's Melodies by the soprano Anna-Louise Costello and accompanist, Aileen Cahill.
