The Town Hall Theatre, Galway will come alive with ‘The Sound of Music’ this coming August. Audiences will revel in the glorious sounds of iconic melodies like "My Favorite Things", "Edelweiss", "Climb Every Mountain", “ Doe-Re-Mi”,” The Lonely Goatherd” and many more.
‘The Sound of Music’, based on the real-life story of the Von Trapp family, tells the story of a woman, Maria, who leaves an Austrian convent to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. As the story unfolds, Maria falls in love with the stern captain only to be forced to flee as the Nazis invade Austria. The original Broadway musical was made into a beloved five-time Oscar winning movie featuring Julie Andrews as Maria. ‘The Sound of Music’ is an audience favourite and among the most celebrated title in musical theatre.
Director’s Seán and Brian Power have produced quality production’s at the Town Hall theatre Galway over the past 22 years with Renmore Pantomime, Galway Musical Society and Power Performance Academy with shows like ‘Peter Pan’, ‘Seussical and last years ‘Oliver’ among others. Now they are beginning their next journey to the Austrian Alps with the family musical, 'The Sound Of Music'.
Although this is a non-professional show it is a fully staged production withSets, Props, Costumes, Orchestra, Sound and Lights.
This musical is directed by Brian & Seán Power; Musical Director is Marcin Plaza and choreography is by Katie Upton.
