Hosted by Baboró International Arts Festival for Children and delivered by Romero Games
Calling all young Game Designers!
Are you interested in designing your own game? Ever wondered what’s involved in developing a video game from concept to design?
If so then why not attend one of two exciting Game Design Workshops aimed at children aged 10-12 years taking place on Saturday 29th June in The Connacht Hotel. Hosted by Baboró International Arts Festival for Children, the two workshops will be facilitated by the internationally renowned Romero Games.
During the workshop, attendees will focus on the four pillars of games: design, art, code and audio. Brenda Romero will explore what makes a game a game, and give attendees the building blocks to develop a game of their own. Moving on to art, Denman Rooke will discuss and demonstrate character and environmental drawing and work with participants to develop their own characters. Lastly, John Romero and Keith O’Conor will focus on code and add audio, showing participants how games come together in a live demonstration on stage.
While both Game Design workshops will include the exact same content, the first workshop will have a girls only focus, while the second one will be open to both girls and boys. Baboró International Arts Festival for Children and Romero Games are passionate about encouraging girls to participate in tech and we hope that by allocating more spaces for girls at these workshops we will inspire young female future game designers here in Galway.
