"Startling and disarming" – The Irish Times
A fusion of theatre, music and dance, Woman Undone is a reimagining of singer Mary Coughlan’s extraordinary life and her difficult childhood. It tells the story of a young woman who endured abuse, addiction and mental illness; and whose discovery of art and music was her redemption.
★★★★½ "An important piece of theatre ... it took several minutes to get one's breath back after" - The Reviews Hub
The performance features an all-female cast including Mary Coughlan herself, four exceptional actor/singers and dancer Erin O’Reilly, who brings a unique physical presence to the stage. The original score by Valgeir Sigurdsson fuses electronic music with live instrumentation and a haunting vocal score.
The show marries together Brokentalkers’ distinctive blend of biography, socio-political discourse and breathtaking theatricality with the musical talent of Coughlan and Sigurdsson to create a show that is beautiful, insightful, and inspiring to listen to.
