A 21st Century retelling of Ionesco’s ‘Rhinoceros'
Adapted & directed by John Rogers
"I never believe journalists. They’re all liars. I don’t need them to tell me what to think.”
RHINO REDUX is the savage story of the inhabitants of a small town who one by one turn into animals until only one person is left. Theatre maker John Rogers directs a talented ensemble of advanced students from Galway Actors Workshop in this bold reimaging of Eugène Ionesco’s Theatre of the Absurd masterpiece ‘Rhinoceros'. Part satire, part horror, Ionesco’s play is a response to his experience of living through the rise of fascism in 1930’s Europe. RHINO REDUX’s sharp revival is an exploration of individualism, mob mentality, and morality and could not be more timely.
