Imagining Ireland – with Sinead Gleeson, Lisa O’Neill, Elaine Feeney, SOAK, Sara Baume, Radie Peat, Denise Chaila, Kate Ellis, Linda Buckley, Eliza McCarthy, Emma King, Sorcha Richardson, Sarah Moss and Caelainn Hogan

Recent years have seen a groundswell of women’s voices in Irish literature, music and poetry. This intimate event will celebrate those voices, bringing together a stellar cast of women with a lot to say.

Art-pop auteur, SOAK, creates emotionally probing songs of startling candor. Lisa O’Neill’s raw and unvarnished folk has won widespread praise and awards this year. With Lankum and solo, Radie Peat is one of the remarkable voices of new folk. Sorcha Richardson’s debut First Prize Bravery marks the arrival of a major new artist.

The words are just as vital as the music, the show gathers the leading lights of an acclaimed generation of Irish writers to speak up. The cast includes Sara Baume (A Line Made by Walking), Sinéad Gleeson (Constellations), Sarah Moss (Ghost Wall), Elaine Feeney (As You Were) and Caelainn Hogan (Republic of Shame)

Word and music meet in the work of Denise Chaila, a Zambian-Irish rapper, singer and poet hailing from Chikankata, Zambia and based in Limerick. Her music blends spoken word and rap to give voice to the sound of a transatlantic odyssey.

Cellist Kate Ellis creates a new ensemble for the evening with Linda Buckley (electronics), Eliza McCarthy (piano), Emma King (percussion).
