 The Visiting Hour

A daughter visits her ill and elderly father, but conversations about the past can be dangerous, and family memories can look very different, depending on who is telling the story. This beautiful new play about a father and daughter at visiting hour in a nursing home in Ireland will be streamed from The Gate on Thurs 22, Fri 23 and Sat 24 April at 7.30pm.

Customer Information:

On the night of the performance, the stream will go live 15 minutes before show time at 19:15. This allows you time to check that everything is working for you. The streamed performance will begin at 19:30 and will run for a total of 60 minutes. The stream will remain open for a short period after the performance, at which point it will close.

The stream is viewable within a web browser, and also on a variety of devices: Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV. TicketCo have created a write-up of the streaming process for each device:

The ‘’Buy Now’’ ticket link will bring you to the Gate’s TicketCo booking platform. The TicketCo booking process is broken down into the following stages: Ticket selection, Order Summary, Contact Information, Payment. Customers are required to provide a name and email address, with the option to provide a contact number. TicketCo accepts payments made by Visa or Mastercard. Customers are not able to purchase tickets using gift vouchers or theatre credit. The final stage is a Booking Confirmation/Digital Ticket page containing event information and a link to the stream marked by a Play symbol. By clicking the link marked by the play symbol, customers can access the stream straight away. In advance of the stream going live, a countdown clock will mark the remaining time. Customers will also receive this link by email immediately after completing their order. The email is from and contains within the subject line the words "ref number".

If you are unable to locate your confirmation email, you can retrieve your tickets by going to the Gate Theatre TicketCo Page and clicking "Find your purchased tickets" and following the instructions (when you have retrieved your ticket, you will need to download it as a PDF to access the reference code. The final step is to go to and input the reference code, which will bring you to the stream of The Visiting Hour for which you have purchased tickets). If you are experiencing any issues booking tickets, on the TicketCo platform is a "Contact the organisers" button which will send a message to the Gate Theatre Box Office email address. The Gate will have a member of staff monitoring the email on the night for any last-minute enquiries.
