A panel discussion with five professionals working in the arts today, whose creative passions have paved their respective paths towards a diverse range of exciting careers. Led by two young curators, they will discuss their professional journeys, the challenges they’ve faced and valuable insights for aspiring young creatives.
Sitting on the panel, we have RTE's North East correspondent and Longford native, Sinead Hussey, film-maker and co-founder of Collective Films, Mark Logan, photographer Ruth Medjber, production manager and co-ordinator Molly McAvoy and set designer Jamie Vartan.
Sinead Hussey is RTE's North East Correspondent, covering Louth, Monaghan, tive Films, Audio Department Records and Universal Space. He makes documentary films, music, aligned brand films and music vMeath and Cavan. The Longford native has worked as a multimedia journalist at the broadcaster since 2011. She previously worked at Newstalk, LMFM and Shannonside Radio.
Mark Logan is the co-founder of Collecideos. He’s passionate about using storytelling to create a more compassionate world.
Ruth Medjber is a Dublin-born and globally based photographer. Most recently, she documented Arcade Fire on their tour of the UK and Europe, as well as covering the Glastonbury Festival for the BBC. With close ties to her community, she uses her creative talent to support local charitable causes and has a long-term project Women of Notes, which celebrates inspiring women in the Irish music industry in a bid to create a gender balance in music.
Molly McAvoy is a Production Manager and Co-ordinator who has worked across theatre, film and most recently, live events. She specialises in directing the technical production of large scale private and public events, and has spent the last 2 years in New York, working on some of the city’s most high profile events, including the New York City Marathon, The Met Gala Afterparty and the Alexander Wang ‘Collection 1 2020’ Fashion Show.
Jamie Vartan has worked extensively as a designer in theatre, opera and dance. He has designed for the plays of Enda Walsh on a number of occasions, including Misterman starring Cillian Murphy and Ballyturk. He has designed productions at the Abbey Theatre and for Blue Raincoat, Sligo. He has numerous credits designing for opera across Europe and for dance with choreographer Darshan Singh Buller.
