Award-winning Opera Collective Ireland, in association with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, presents Jonathan Dove’s breakthrough work FLIGHT.
A superb, original, modern-day operatic comedy it has found universal popularity resulting in numerous productions around the world.
FLIGHT was inspired by the real-life story of an Iranian refugee stranded at Paris airport for 18 years and his interaction with a group of storm-grounded travellers. With a stunning ensemble cast of 10 singers, the opera’s reflections on love and identity are presented with winning humour and engaging music. Though composed 25 years ago, FLIGHT continues to have a compelling resonance today.
FLIGHT is conducted by Wynn Davies and directed by Stephen Medcalf.
