With Musician & Composer Jessie Kennedy, & Former U2 Studio Manager & Drum Tech Sam O'Sullivan

Musician and Composer Jessie Kennedy and Former U2 Studio Manager, Drum Tech and Percussionist, Sam O’Sullivan are excited to bring a new series of Songwriting and Percussion workshops for children and teens to the Black Box Stage.

During Rhythm & Soul Music School Jessie and Sam will work together with the students on music, songwriting and percussion. Every student in the class regardless of ability, experience or confidence level will be encouraged to have the experience of using various percussion instruments, making music and song as part of a group and individually.

This residency aims to provide all students with a supportive and fun learning environment to explore their own creativity, the world of music, collaboration percussion, writing and performance. These workshops offer a completely unique opportunity for music enthusiasts to engage and learn from professionals in the music industry across many genres - from rock, classical and everything in between.

For the past year Jessie and Sam have been working with several schools as part of the TAP (Teacher Artist Partnership) and BLAST (Bringing Live Arts to Schools and Teachers) programmes. Their most recent project is a series of workshops with kids and teens for Crunniú na nÓg, in collaboration with Cork County Arts and Creative Ireland. They are also on the Cork County Arts Panel of Facilitators. They are Garda Vetted for the schools programmes and have both completed the TUSLA children first programme.
