The work commemorates Kildare born Ernest Shackleton, who led the Imperial Trans-Antarctic expedition on 'Endurance' in 1914. Ice-floes caused the ship to sink resulting in a dramatic eighteen month rescue effort, forever cementing Shackleton’s reputation as an exceptional leader. Composer and soloist Brian Hughes plays the uilleann pipes & whistles, supported by the County Kildare Orchestra, with a dramatic narration by John MacKenna along with song and original photos.
