A New Play by Aoibheann McCann

Free Admission, Ticket Required

Do you have a caring disposition or in need of caring? The Blue Star is the answer! Meet the savvy Martina, the charming Phildelma and the wallflower Ciara at the Town Hall Theatre Bar on the 20th of September at 6pm and hear how their input made the Galway Branch of The Blue Star the award-winning care agency we know and love today. The Blue Star is a comic yet moving play that asks some tough questions about the Irish homecare system. It also questions how we perceive caring.

 Excerpts Of The Blue Star

Playwright Aoibheann McCann says “Caring is an issue that affects more and more of my friends as I get older.” We each have our personal challenging obstacles to deal with in caring for each other and ourselves and we constantly question is it even possible? It's this weighty life question that this play embrace and which make these three women fascinating characters to meet.

Excerpts of The Blue Star will be performed by stalwarts of the Theatre community: Tara Breathnach (Martina), Sorcha Fox (Phildelma) and Brídín Nic Dhonncha (Ciara). Directed and dramaturged by Mairéad Folan (NoRopes Theatre Company). This event is in partnership with Town Hall Theatre, Galway. A Q&A with the creative team chaired by Fergal McGrath (Town Hall Theatre) will follow the performance.
