The Town Hall Theatre is seeking expressions of interest from Galway theatre makers, musicians, and writers to participate in the venue’s ‘Bringing It All Back Home’ initiative 2021. Closing date is Friday 23 July. If you are an artist who lives or works in or is from Galway and would like to participate, please e mail us this week at email@example.com and in 50-100 words outline why you would like to be involved. A cash bursary of minimum €1500 will be offered for each project and admin and other support will be provided.
In summer 2020, the Town Hall Theatre invited a number of Nursing Homes and Care Centres in Galway to nominate a resident to interact with one of a panel of local theatre makers, musicians and writers. The artists then connected with the resident and with the resident’s family, listened to their stories and created a series of short-form vignettes for broadcast on social media and digital platforms to share those often simple but always beautiful stories. The 10 minute digital stories feature a diverse range of subjects, from recent experiences to fond if distant memories of childhood and varied lifetimes – for more details on the initiative and to view the videos created last year, visit www.tht.ie
This unique cultural initiative - ‘Bringing It All Back Home’ – was created to shine a light on older citizens affected by the lockdowns and subsequent restrictions. Initially conceived to show collective support for older citizens and the people who care for them, especially in times of crisis, the project subsequently expanded to include people living outside of care home settings and also others deeply affected by the lockdown and the 2021 project will retain this flexibility. Bringing it all Back Home is funded Galway City Council’s Creative Ireland Funding as part of the Irish Government’s campaign, Getting Through Covid-19 Together and is supported by the Arts Council.
Closing date is Friday 23 July
