French film to open new GFS season

Marguerite - inspired by the life and career of Florence Foster Jenkins

LORENCE FOSTER Jenkins was an amateur singer from the 1910s to the 1940s, who believed she was a magnificent soprano. In fact she could hardly sing at all. Still, she became a cult favourite in New York and Cole Porter was a loyal fan.

Her story has inspired the French film, Marguerite, the opening film of the Galway Film Society's Autumn/Winter 2016 season.
