Galway favourites The Stunning will headline a special Benefit Concert with the irrepressible Tommy Tiernan and local heroes My Fellow Sponges at the Black Box Galway later this month.
The concert, which is in support of five female lecturers taking gender equality cases against NUI Galway, takes place on Wednesday 29 March.
Formed in Galway in 1987, The Stunning are one of the most successful Irish bands ever. They toured relentlessly in the seven years that they were initially together, building up a following that would guarantee their place in Irish rock history. Their debut album ‘Paradise in the Picturehouse’ spent five weeks at number one in 1990 and became one of the most-loved Irish albums of all time. Two years later, the follow-up Once Around The World also hit the number one spot, and the band went on to sell over 100,000 albums in Ireland alone.
