Announced last night as Best Actor in the 2018 Irish Theatre Awards, Cillian Murphy's association with Galway, Druid and Galway International Arts Festival goes back a long way with stunning performances in a string of superb productions over the past two decades, many of which premiered at the Town Hall or Black Box Theatres! From his first appearance in Galway in 1997 (in Enda Walsh's Disco Pigs at Nun's Island Arts Centre for Galway Arts Festival, with Cillian in his first stage role) to Druid's The Country Boy in 1999 and co-starring with Anne Marie Duff DruidSynge's iconic production of The Playboy of the Western World in 2004 to last year's critically acclaimed Grief Is The Thing With Feathers directed by the enigmatic Enda Walsh, Cillian has kept Town Hall audiences at the edge of their seats! Great to see The Guardian recall many of these productions recently. Enjoy!
