Please note telephone and personal bookings are subject to the Town Hall Theatre Development Charge of 50 cent per ticket and online bookings are subject to a €1 Booking & Development Charge per ticket.

We offer discounts on most shows - concessions apply to under 18 year olds, students, senior citizens and the unwaged. Proof of eligibility and ID required. 10% discount for groups of 10+. Some exceptions apply.

Avoid the rush by ordering your interval drinks before the show. The bar on the first floor is open before and after all performances.

Late Admission cannot be guaranteed and can only occur if there is a suitable break in the performance. Please allow adequate time for traffic and parking.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Children up to two years of age are admitted free of charge (to performances suitable for children). However, in the event of shows that are specifically for the under-two age group, an admission charge will apply. For health and safety reasons, buggies and carrier chairs are not allowed into the auditorium and can be stored in a designated area of the foyer.

There is normally sufficient on street parking in the environs of the Theatre in the evenings. However, please allow for 5-10 minutes to find a space and more at festival (and Novena!) times. If spaces are unavailable, there are car parks at the Cathedral (5 mins walk) and the Dyke Road (7 mins walk).

The Town Hall Theatre is Galway’s municipal theatre, owned and managed by Galway City Council and thus subject to all statutory regulations, obligations and codes of practice including those of financial reporting, governance and management pertaining to Local Authorities. Town Hall Theatre staff are employees of Galway City Council and the operation of the theatre is controlled by Galway City Council management, overseen by the 18 elected members of Galway City Council (see attached list of elected members and the date of their election) and who generally serve 5 years terms. Details of the financial performance of the Town Hall Theatre are included in Galway City Council’s Annual Report, extracts from which have been submitted separately and in line with previous.  Town Hall Theatre employs 6 full-time and up to 12 part-times staff. No member of staff earns in excess of €50,000 and of the five who earn in excess of €30,000, two employees are in the €40,000-€50,000 bracket and three are in the €30,000-€40,000 bracket. Town Hall Theatre does not engage in fundraising and if it ever did in the future, would comply with best practice regarding same as part of its own statutory obligations. A copy of this letter, a copy of the Galway City Council Annual Report and a list of elected members of Galway City Council will be available on the Town Hall Theatre’s website as part of Town Hall Theatre and Galway City Council’s commitment to the principles of the Governance Transparency Scale for organisations in receipt of recurring Arts Council funding.
