Update 28 February 2022
From Monday 28 February, the use of face masks in theatres and cinemas is no longer mandatory. Please be aware that a number of low-key Covid-19 mitigation measures remain in place in both the Town Hall and Black Box to keep everyone safe, patrons who wish to continue to wear face masks in our theatres are more than welcome to do so and we ask that patrons do not attend an event in any of our venues if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. Please also be aware that new events are being added to our 2022 programme on a continuous basis - visit www.tht.ie for details of our expanding programme and follow our social media channels for regular updates. Thank you for your support for our endeavours throughout the pandemic - it is appreciated. And we look forward to seeing you all again soon!
Update 21 January 2022
Great news! Following the Government announcement today Fri 21 January, restrictions on capacity for indoor events no longer apply, closing times return to normal and Digital Covid Certificates are longer required. However, please note patrons must continue to wear masks in theatres until further notice.
Additional tickets for many of our upcoming events will go on sale in the coming days via our website www.tht.ie - please note all start times for events taking place in the next 10 days remain unchanged. Visit www.tht.ie for details of our expanding programme for 2022 and follow our social media channels for regular updates. And thank you for your continued support for our endeavours. It is appreciated.
Facemasks required. To keep everyone safe, we ask that patrons do not attend an event at any of our venues if they are experiencing any symptoms in relation to COVID-19, are self-isolating, waiting on test results or have been in close contact with someone experiencing symptoms. Please feel welcome to contact us at thtsales@galwaycity.ie if you have any queries.
Update 22nd December 2021
Following the Government announcement on Fri 17 December, we have had to scale back the programme of events we had planned between now and 30 January – we will have fewer events and, in keeping with the Government’s guidelines, they will finish before 8pm and will accommodate just 50% of our usual capacity for performances. Many December and January events have thus been rescheduled, some have been cancelled and others will proceed at earlier times – our box office team will be in touch with customers impacted by the changes and we ask everyone to bear with us as we work through the backlog. Please visit www.tht.ie for details of our revised programme and follow our social media channels for regular updates.
To reduce audience numbers on the small number of January events that have sold more than the permitted 50%, we are initially contacting all ticketholders affected by this restriction on capacity to ask if there are any bookers who no longer wish to attend the show. If you would like a full refund, we will arrange one. Once we have processed any refund requests from patrons, we will then review our remaining audience numbers for the affected shows. In the interest of fairness in this difficult situation, we will reorganise the performances on a “first booked, first served” basis. We appreciate this will leave some customers disappointed and are very sorry that this is a situation we must address, but in these challenging times we believe this is the most reasonable course of action.
Please be aware that a wide range of Covid-19 mitigation measures remain in place in both the Town Hall and Black Box to keep everyone safe. Following the Government announcement of 19 October, please note that all ticket holders* are required to produce proof of immunity (Digital Covid Certificate or Recovery Certificate) and photo ID upon entry. Patrons are also required to continue to wear masks throughout their time in our theatres and we ask patrons to be respectful of each other’s space when moving about. *Accompanied minors (children under 18 who are accompanied by an adult) do not need proof of vaccination or recovery. If you have purchased tickets for shows but don’t have proof of immunity, you are entitled to a full refund. Please contact thtsales@galwaycity.ie or your point of purchase before the show - refunds will not be given at the door of the show or after the event.
We ask that patrons do not attend an event in any of our venues if they are experiencing any symptoms in relation to COVID-19, are self-isolating, waiting on test results or have been in close contact with someone experiencing symptoms – please always err on the side of caution and we will refund you without hesitation. Please be aware that alcohol or food is not allowed in the auditorium of the Town Hall or Black Box Theatres and you are not allowed to bring your own alcohol into the buildings.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a safe and peaceful New Year, along with a massive thank you for your continued loyalty and support in 2021. God bless and stay safe!
Update 18th December 2021
Following the Government announcement on Fri 17 December which mandates that indoor events - including theatre productions, music concerts & film screenings - should finish before 8pm & remain limited to 50% capacity until 30 January, we are now revising our January programme. We are currently in discussions with the promoters, artists and organisations impacted by this difficult situation & in the coming days, our box-office team will be in touch with ticketholders as we work our way through the large workload. Thank you for your continued patience & support at what is a challenging time for everyone including our audiences, our artists & our workers.
Update 6th December 2021
Dear Customers. We are currently working to put a plan in place for events in the Town Hall and Black Box theatres from 7 December that are impacted by the Government’s 50% capacity restrictions. This is a hugely challenging time for everyone, for you our patrons and for us at the Town Hall Theatre and we really appreciate your patience and support.
Shows in the coming weeks which have sold less than 50% will proceed as planned, but shows which have sold more than 50% will need to be realigned to comply with the regulations, and if this is not possible these particular performances or events will have to be cancelled or, where feasible, deferred to a new date.
We are currently in discussions with the many artists and organisations affected by this very difficult situation and our box-office team will be in touch with ticket holders in the coming days as we work our way through the large workload. And again, thank you.
