Corona Virus Update

UPDATED 3 September 2021

Following this week’s Government announcement, theatres from Monday 6 September will be allowed increase audience size to 60% of venue capacity where all patrons are immune (fully vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19 within previous 6 months), or accompanied minors (under 18). Please note physical distancing will no longer be in place from that date and all attendees will be required to produce proof of immunity (vaccination cert or recovery cert) upon entry. In line with sectoral guidance and to keep everyone safe and sound, patrons will continue to be required to wear masks throughout their time in the theatre and we encourage patrons to continue to be respectful of each other’s space when moving about. Children under-18 who are accompanying adults do not need proof of vaccination or recovery.

As we move to this new phase of re-opening and to ensure our staff, arts workers and audiences continue to feel safe within our venues, rest assured we will continue to carefully follow and fully implement all government guidelines.

The Government have also announced that they intend to lift remaining restrictions on indoor and outdoor events from 22 October.

In addition to our busy programme of artists’ residencies and support programmes and our occasional online events, we will present an increasing number of live performances, screenings and events in the months ahead – check our website and social media channels (Facebook / Instagram / Twitter) for regular updates. Outside of these events, our buildings and box office remain closed to the public for now, but patrons can book tickets online to all events at www.tht.ie Please e mail any box office queries to thtsales@galwaycity.ie Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Stay safe!

Finally, many patrons have asked if there is a way that they can support artists or production companies during and after what has a been difficult time of closures, postponements and cancellations. Patrons have the option of a full refund, the opportunity to transfer to a re-scheduled date where applicable or you can donate the price of one or more of your tickets to the company/artist. And you can separately support local artists via the Patron Donation Award option on our website tht.ie
